Pitwick

Dig · Trap · Collect · Escape

You dig holes to trap the guards chasing you, collect every artifact, then climb to the portal. Holes refill after about 5.5 seconds and guards need about 5 seconds to climb out — so anything still inside when a hole closes is gone for good. Dig carefully, because you aren't safe in a hole either.

Description

Short: Pitwick is a dig-and-trap treasure platformer inspired by classic arcade puzzle games. Dig holes, trap the guards, collect every artifact and escape through the portal.

Long: Across 40 levels in four worlds — Caverns, Desert Temple, Haunted Crypt and Frozen Depths — you dig holes to trap the guards chasing you, then climb to the portal once every artifact is collected. Holes refill after about 5.5 seconds, so timing is everything. Five mini games sit between the worlds, and winning them earns bonus lives. Pitwick runs in any desktop browser and on phones with touch controls.

Technical: HTML5 canvas and plain JavaScript, with no engine and no external files. The art, music and sound effects are all generated in code.

AI disclosure: built with AI assistance (Claude, by Anthropic). Design and direction by Lukasz Urgacz.

The person behind the studio

Hi, I'm Lukasz.

Lukasz, the developer behind Second Controller Games

A beginner game developer, and Second Controller Games is the name I make games under.

By day I work full time. By night I'm a dad of two, a gamer, and a science, tech and DIY tinkerer who can't leave a project alone. The studio name is a nod to the second controller on the sofa, the one that's always meant for my kids.

What I'm making: Pitwick is a dig-and-trap treasure platformer inspired by classic arcade puzzle games. You dig holes, trap the guards, collect every artifact and escape through the portal. It spans four worlds — caverns, a desert temple, a haunted crypt and frozen depths — and has little mini games between them.

I'm still learning, so the game grows a bit at a time, and feedback means a lot. If you play it, I'd love to hear what you think.

I build Pitwick with help from AI tools, and the design and direction are mine.

Support

Always optional

Pitwick is free. If you enjoy it and fancy buying me a coffee, a tip helps cover tools and the time I steal from sleep. Tips are always welcome and never expected.
